WEFT: wool; light red; 2 spun unplied 2//per shoot; 2 shoots after 1 row of knots 7 rows of knots to inch (26 dm) PILE: knotted, wool; 10 colours: red, purple, dark brown, yellow, white, green, dark blue, mid blue; mid pink and dark pink on lower left border. Asymmetrical, open to left, tied round 2 warp threads. SIDE FINISH: 1 cord oversewn with dark brown wool END FINISH: missing - both ends. DESIGN: 1 Field: red ground, corner spandrels (small) each containing red floral motifs on white ground; edge of spandrel "crenellated". Main pattern : Herati. 3 vertical rows of 3 and 1/2 bands. Diamond blue, leaves blue, yellow and red. Main border: white ground, angular red meander, blossoms in all colours. 3. Guard: inner and outer same. Red ground. Yellow meander outlined in dark blue with cross-shaped flowers. Repair upper left corner. Outer border missing along top. Inner and outmost border (missing at top). Reciprocal trevoil in blue and red outlined in white. Lower edge: green replaces blue.
