Fiziksel açıklama
Plain weave cotton embroidered with silk in straight stitches with pulled thread work; whitework. Very fine work with four rolled hems but unfinished embroidery. A wide incomplete composite border of small lozenges, blocks and squares of triangles overlaid with an elongated zigzag, leading into a plain field partially decorated with diagonal bands in the top section, which may have been intended to form a pointed niche/arch which would have been completed with multi-petalled rosettes, zigzags and lozenges. This piece illustrates how similar embroidery is worked: there is no underdrawing but the straight and diagonal lines were worked first and then the infilling added. Cotton thread: Z-spun Embroidery thread: white silk, 2S
