Notes
The pear-shaped body recalls pre-Mongol bottles and shapes illustrated in Timurid period (1370-1526) miniature paintings. In China, similarly shaped bottles of Cizhou ware date as early as the Jin dynasty (1115-1234) and are also common in Kraak wares of the Wanli period (1573-1620). A similar pair of confronted peacocks may be seen on the tympanum above the entrance to the tomb of Harun-i Vilayat in Isfahan, dated 1512.
