Woollen pile carpet with cotton. DESIGN: field of a dark blue ground scattered with multi-coloured blossoms, leaves and sprigs. Central scalloped-sided diamond medallion filled with similar motifs; each corner of the field has a quarter of such a medallion but with red ground. BORDERS: there are seven sets, beginning with the innermost: (1) white ground with small-scale angular meander (2) red ground with floral meander (3) brown ground with blossoms (4) white ground with floral meander (5) as (3) (6) as (2) (7) as (1) WARP: white cotton; Z5S; depressed; 25-30 threads per inch (110-120 per dm). WEFT: white and blue cotton; white Z2S and blue Z4S; 2 shoots (first white and then blue) after each row of knots; 18-21 knots per inch (80-84 per dm). PILE: wool. 10 colours: dark red, red, orange, yellow, light green, dark blue, blue pink, dark brown, white; asymmetrical knot open to the left and tied around 2 warp threads; 225-315 knots per sq. inch (4400-5040 per sq. dm). Side finish: one cord oversewn with red wool. End finish: missing.
