19th century Carpet WARP: white and brown wool, used separately; Z3S; 17 threads per inch (70 per dm). WEFT: white cotton; Z4S; 2 shoots after each row of knots; 7 knots per inch (30 per dm). PILE: wool; 14 colours: dark red, red, dark yellow, yellow, dark green, green, dark blue, blue, light blue, purple, dark pink, pink, black, white; symmetrical knot tied around two threads; 60 knots per sq. inch (1050 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: 2 cords overcast in blocks with pink, blue and yellow wool. END FINISH: lower: missing. Upper: incomplete but evidence of 1 cm. plainweave with white cotton and one pass of dark red/blue weft twining. DESIGN: Field: dark blue ground with six and half medallions along the length of the field. The two central ones are larger and palmettes: a white one and a red one. The four outermost have a star of floral star in the centre and are more geometric and are hooked at all corners. The fifth is a yellow stepped lozenge and within it is a red octagon with flowers. Rosettes, crosses, hooked crosses and other geometric motifs on the field. Main border: dark red ground with a stylised floral meander with trefoil and star-like blossoms and a blue and yellow stem. Inner and outer borders: white ground with floral meander on a yellow stem.

"Karadagh, Karadja, probably 19th c.... cotton wefted are later in date.." NB Border of illus. 194, the paired squares as in 192 and 194 and both 'typical' medallions.
