Notes
A decorated, square panel has been cut from what was probably a linen tunic. Egyptian, ca. AD300-600. Tapestry woven purple (and white?) wool on undyed linen. At the centre are two animals. Perhaps dogs, one large and a smaller one beneath it. They sit in a circle which sits in a square. The square is surrounded by eight motifs within individual leaf borders- two faces, two birds and four floral motifs. A square border surrounds this and then scrolling waves. The fragment has a number of holes with linen on one side. Approx 15x16 tpc.
