Tin-glazed earthenware (fritware) with lustre decoration

Fragment from a flat topped lid, earthenware of yellow calcareous clay body, with tin-opacified lead glaze, the top decorated with a trellis-like ground in gold lustre overlaid with ovoid leaf-like motifs in gold and brown. The rim edge is painted with thick and thin bands beneath a painted escalopped band. Evidence of ruby lustre smudges. Interior undecorated.
