Notes
A fragment of silk fabric has been attached to cardboard. Probably Persian or Syrian, ca. AD800-1000. It is a compound twill of silk in blue, buff and white. The design appears to be a standing king (wearing a crown) holding an elephant in each hand by the trunk. A circular border (enclosing a ring of dots) seems to surround this. Poor condition.
