Notes velvet, 1730s, Ottoman Turkey
Malzemeler ve teknikler Woven silk brocade. Vertical and horizontal point repeat with 4 minimum pattern areas. Satin foundation structure: 4/1 satin, warp count 75, light ivory silk; slight S; weft cotton, description 1 ply, Z twist. Satin & velvet warp order 3-1-3. Velvet structure: silk; red, pile counts, warps 12, along weft 14. Binding weft threads: silk, super skinny, maybe 6 filament, ivory. Brocade structure: part brocaded, 4/1 twill; count 20. Shots between pile 2. Metal & twist: gilt? S tightness of wrap: tightly. V tightly wrapped in some places; less so in others. Brocaded only at the border and in certain parts of the medallion. Some parts of the borders around the medallion are not brocaded. Selvedges: two separate sections: inner: a warp faced satin weave; outer one: closer to a tabby weave - more wefts showing.
