Carpet end of kelim and goat hair. WARP: white and brown wool spun together (a few warps are self-coloured); Z2S; 15 threads to the inch (59 per dm). WEFT: red wool; Z spun, unplied; 2 parallel threads to each shoot and 2 shoots after each row of knots; 9 knots to the inch (30 per dm counted at 12 per 4 cms). PILE: wool; 5 colours: red, yellow, dark blue, dark brown, white; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 68 knots per sq. inch (885 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: both sides are cut. END FINISH: lower end: a band of plain weave 3.5 cms. deep; from pile is banded in red, blue, red, brown with a thick cord of dark brown hair passing through the warp loops. There is an oversewn cord of white wool in a similar position. The warp threads form tightly twisted loops. Upper end is cut. DESIGN: there are two bands of guard stripe: lower is of dark blue and yellow rectangles. Upper is of red and white rectangles. Both create an alternating chequered design.
