There are two ghaza from S'adi, the Iranian poet. Note cloth label sewn to one corner with inked letters. Embroidered with silk as a major part of the design: see Ghazaliyat-i S'adi edited by Habib Allah Yaghmai' (Tehran, 1361/1982 pp. 342-43 and p. 634.)

Plain weave cotton embroidered with silk in straight stitches; whitework; backed with plain weave cotton and faced with printed cotton. The Museum Number is in the top left hand corner. Pieced: it seems to have been made from a series of bands which have been sewn together to form a central panel and borders. Each band has a composite border: [a] reciprocal diamond heads [b] a line of diamonds containing either a star or a lozenge [c] a wider line with an embroidered inscription [d] as [b] [e] a line of small stepped lozenges [f] a wider band with isolated, rigid, elongated botehs. There are four of these bands in the central panel. A similar bands for each side of the border. In each corner is a small inward pointing embroidered cypress tree. Some of the sections of the border are back-to-front. Cotton thread: not able to determine twist. Embroidery Thread: white silk; 2S Backing: pieced; undecorated white cotton. Facing: bias cut; printed ikat pattern in yellow, red, green, dark brown and white.
