Notes
A square panel of tapestry-woven purple wool and undyed linen (both s-spun). Egytpain, ca. AD300-600. A central circle is surrounded by four small circles at the cardinal points and four ovals/circles at each corner. At the centre is a horseman seemingly in battle with a standing figure with some floral decoration in the background. Two running horned animals are at outer top of the central circle. The outer circles also contain figures - boys with shields and seated women, each with a child. The fragment has selvedge on two sides and has been roughly cut at the top and bottom. Some slit tapestry. There is some staining and holes.
