Blue and purple s-spun wool embroidered onto linen. Egyptian, ca. AD1250-1500, Mamluk period.The pattern is geometric and is a corner piece, probably from a tunic. The purple thread create cross hatching and the blue thread form small motifs within the spaces. Three floral motifs, that resemble staffs, are emboridered at each end of the design. The linen is approx. 14x25 tpc and is stained.
