Embroidered cotton with silk thread and silver strip, ink
Fiziksel açıklama
Cover of plain weave cotton embroidered with silk in double darning with outlines in double running and details worked in silver strip. Unbleached cotton ground with a pattern of isolated motifs. There is a group of 4 circles, each with a small circular gap at the end where they almost meet, giving the impression of a fat crescent moon, overlaid by a fifth circle with a circular space in the centre. Straight stems with a trefoil and inward curving stems with a half leaf emerge from the group. Flat metal strip is used to in fill the circular spaces. This motif is found in each corner and in the centre. The central group is worked in two shades of orange with yellow and blue details. Alternate corners are worked in olive green, yellow and orange or in green, orange, yellow and blue. The outlines are in black. A tall narrow cypress tree in green with an orange centre stands above an orange trefoil. This motif points outwards at the cardinal points. There is undecorated ground. The embroidery is double-sided. Under-drawing in dark ink is clearly visible where the outline has corroded. The top and bottom edges have been rolled and stitched.
