Brocaded silk and cotton, plain weave with a marked weft rib. Lightweight fabric with a rose pink ground and a small repeating pattern in offset rows of a drooping umbrella-like flower-head in white with green leaves, all edged in black and all facing the same direction. Part of a selvedge. Evidence that bands or strips of fabric were at one time sewn onto this piece. Warp: rose pink silk Foundation weft: white cotton, Z-spun. Pattern weft: green silk, Z twist; black silk, Z twist; Metal thread: silver strip open S-wound on a white silk core. See also: T.180-1909 for an example of the same fabric.
