Notes
Silk woven lampas. Possibly Byzantium or Near Eastern, ca. AD1000-1300. The background weft is of gold, silk thread creating a netting effect. The design laid on top is of cream/gold griffins/winged horses and floral designs on a green background. The piece has a seam across the middle with a slightly different design on each side. One side has a brown stain. Possibly from a furnishing. Very similar to T.121 (+B) 1934.
