Fiziksel açıklama Turkish carpet with central medallion of cream silk, outlined in purple and red wool. Debased cloud bands and flowers cover a white ground, with purple corner pieces. Warp: blue and white cotton laid in blocks of approximately 3-4 cm.; Z3S; 37 threads per inch (140 per dm); depressed Weft: green cotton; Z2S; 4 parallel threads per shoot, 2 shoots of weft after each row of knots; 21 knots to the inch (87 per dm). Pile: wool and silk; 9 colours: dark red, light orange, light yellow, green, light green wool and silk, light blue, purple, pink, brown; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 388 knots per sq. inch (6090 per sq. dm). Side finish: web of 6 cords overcast with pink wool. The main weft goes around the innermost cord only. End finish: Lower: warp loops with 1 cm plain weave with white, red, yellow and red weft. Upper: cut Design: Field: green ground with central light green oval medallion in silk framed by blossoms; the ground is covered with arabesques and blossoms also covering four corner spandrels with purple ground. Main border: reciprocal purple and light green lobes filled with flowers; the green extends to form a scalloped edge. Inner border: light orange ground with a pink interlacing arabesque on top of a green one. Outer border: shallow scallop with cloud bands on dark red ground and contain inscriptions (top left) "Hereke". NB This gives the impression of a silk carpet that has been copied in wool.
