Fiziksel açıklama 19th century carpet, slit tapestry WEFT: wool; all s-spun, unplied except for the white which is z-spun, unplied; mixture of single threads and 2 parallel threads used together; 8 colours: red (only in two areas), yellow, light yellow, green, dark blue, blue, brown, white; average of 21 threads per inch (90 per dm). SIDE FINISH: returned wefts END FINISH: incomplete DESIGN: Field: dark blue ground with 4 or 3 and two half blossom-bearing stems across the width; these are repeated 9 times down the length. Main border: white ground with small green off-set anthropomorphic figures. Inner border: blue zigzag line separating yellow and light yellow. Outer border: blue zigzag line separating yellow and white. There are blue, white and yellow bands at both ends. There is a brown band at the lower end. NB: Woven like others of this type with interrupted vertical slits; these do not run the entire length of the carpet and have been stitched together. They are visible on the photograph.
