Malzemeler ve teknikler
Red silk brocade velvet. Vertical and horizontal point repeat with 4 minimum pattern areas. Satin foundation structure: 4/1 satin; warp: ivory silk; skinnier than usual; single strand untwisted. Weft cotton; thick ivory single strand slight S twist. Satin & velvet warp order 3-1-2. Velvet structure: red silk, pile counts, warps 16, along weft 12. Binding weft threads: silk, skinny. Brocade structure: wholly brocaded? Selvedges: turned under and hemmed. This has been cut along the vertical, and is otherwise not in really good shape. The drawing lacks vigour and the positive and negative space are difficult to read it is possessed of less of the "iconic" quality. cf: tiles: the octagon and cross pattern marks similar tesselation. Unusual for being straight-stacked. Silk (Textile) Cotton Weaving
