| Notes | Ecclesiastical stoles were long narrow scarves worn around the neck by Christian clergy, they usually fell to the knee or lower. The silk for this stole was woven in Byzantium (modern Istanbul), and the stole itself, with a foliage pattern, was made in Germany. |
