Notes Inscription in Arabic; Agate, Iran, 16th/17th century A wide tear-drop shaped tablet of amber-yellow coloured agate, set in silver. The stone in engraved in three registers: The centre contains bold text in nasta‘liq script set on cross hatched ground: الله ٠ح٠د علی ٠دد Alla, Mohammad, Ali Madad The middle band is inscribed with Surat Al-'Ikhlāş: بس٠الله الرح٠ن الرحي٠قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ اللَّهُ الصَّ٠َدُ لَ٠ْ يَلِدْ وَلَ٠ْ يُولَدْ وَلَ٠ْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ یا غفّار The outer border is inscribed with Ayatu-l-kursī: اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّو٠ُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْ٠ٌ ۚ لَّهُ ٠َا فِي السَّ٠َاوَاتِ وَ٠َا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ ٠َن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَ٠ُ ٠َا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِ٠ْ وَ٠َا خَلْفَهُ٠ْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ ٠ِّنْ عِلْ٠ِهِ إِلَّا بِ٠َا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّ٠َاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُ٠َا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِي٠ُ

Fiziksel açıklama A wide, tear-drop shaped tablet of yellow-brown cornelian, set in silver (?). The stone engraved in three registers. The centre with bold 'Allah Mohammad Ali Madad' (Allah, Mohammad, Ali, Help!) in Nasta'liq letters in reserve, agaisnt a cross-hatched ground. The middle register with Surat at Tauhid (The Unity), Koran, CXII and 'Ya Ghaffar' (O' Forgiver!). The outer border with 'The Kursi' verses, Koran, . The metal frame and back incorporates 'eyes' for a strap, possibly to use as an armband amulet.
