Plain weave cotton, probably hand woven, embroidered with silk in straight stitches and cut work and pulled thread work; whitework. The central panel has a octagon formed of pulled thread work in three concentric zones. Around this, 8 isolated and stylized floral sprays in straight stitches, the octagon being then edged with 4 rows of small lozenges of satin stitch leading into the four corner units of cut work with needlewoven bars. The panel is surrounded by 2 narrow bands of pulled thread work, one either side of a band of stepped lozenges in straight stitches. There are the remains of stitching using 2-ply pink cotton thread along one selvedge. Cotton Thread: Z-spun Embroidery Thread: white silk; 2S
