Notes
This is a circular net snood made of undyed linen. It would have been worn by a woman in Egypt during the first millennium AD. The hair net was allegedly excavated at Fayum, where cemeteries had been used for interments from the Ptolemaic period until at least the sixth century The more recent burials yielded examples of actual clothing, reflecting changes in burial practices that took place in the Roman world with the gradual adoption of Christianity.
