Warp: white cotton; Z4S; 28 threads per inch (110 per dm). Weft: wool; Z2S; 9 colours: dark red, red, yellow, green, dark blue, light blue, purple, pink, white. 120 shoots per inch (480 per dm). Side finish: returned weft. End finish: Both: one row of weft twining with a warp fringe 7.5cm long, irregularly tied with a knot. Design: Field: white ground with Herati design with a red diamond edged in blue surrounded by flowers and leaves in all colours. There is a central slightly stepped diamond-shaped medallion with a dark blue ground and a small pendant above and below. Within the medallionnn is a smaller white ground medallion. Both are decorated with the Herati pattern. Four borders described from the inside: 1. Dark blue ground with alternating floral and leaf motifs from the Herati pattern, in all colours. 2. Light blue ground with a floral meander - dark blue stem bearing pink/purple flowers and white leaves. 3. Yellow ground with a short diagonal red stem bearing pink/purple flower buds alternating in direction; the spaces between are filled with small white composite motif. 4. as 1.
