Warp: white wool; Z3S; not depressed; 29 threads per inch (80 per dm). Weft: white cotton; Z3S; 2 shoots after each row of knots; 8 rows of knots per inch (32 per dm). Pile: wool; 12 colours: red, green, white, pink, blue, brown, purple, dark blue, light brown, yellow, light blue, very light brown; symmetrical knot; 2 knots tied around warp thread. Side finish: 5 cords overcast with yellow and brown wool. End finish: Bottom: edge missing but some evidence of plain weave and weft turning in red wool. Top: incomplete - evidence of 2.5cm of plain weave with red weft and 2 rows of offset knotting. Wool Cotton Knotted Pile
Fiziksel açıklama
Wool knotted pile on wool and cotton foundation. Design: Field: dark blue with 6 large square medallions, alternating white and red grounds, each containing 8 pointed stems framed by a smaller square medallion - latter with ram-horn pendants. Both field and square medallions decorated with assorted scatttered motifs. Main border: red ground with alternating starred motif in a lozenge form and a cartouche in all colours outlined in white. Top right and left hand corners filled with scattered motifs. Inner and outer borders: white ground with angular meander in yellow outlined in brown with flowers in all colours.
