At the top there is a dark blue flat-cut glass stone of tear-drop shape set in a bezel within a lac-filled gold mount decorated with granulation. The setting is fused onto a gold back-plate with a serrated edge which also is fringed with granulation. A matrix stamped leaflets applied to the lower edge and covers the topmost portion of the lower part of the vertical wire which is wrapped in coils of 2-ply twisted gold wire. The bottom end has a decorative granulated terminal.. On the back of the earring immediately above the coiled wire there is a triangulated slip of gold soldered onto the back of the flattened wire beneath the stone setting. It would appear to be a fastening for some unknown attachment.
