Warp: brown; wool; Z3S; not depressed; 16 knots per sq. inch (64 per dm). Weft: white; cotton; Z3S; 3 shoots per row (occasionally 4); 8 rows of knots per sq. inch (29 per dm). Pile: wool; red, yellow, green, light green, dark blue, blue, light blue, pink, dark brown, light brown, and white (11 colours); symmetrical. Side finish: 2 cords overcast with light brown cotton. End finish: Lower: incomplete; 2cm plain weave with light brown cotton. Upper: incomplete but evidence of 2.5cm plain weave with white wool above 1 row of weft twining of white wool. Design: Field: 2 light brown elongated hexagons in a row, each with a central lozenge, are filled with dark vertical stylised stems with diamonds and triangles; each lozenge has a white ground with a vertical and horizontal bar on which are a number of rosettes reduced to octagons with 2 pairs of decorated leaves lying diagonal. The sides of the field between the hexagons are 2 halves of this lozenge with a quarter at each corner. Inner border: white ground with blue meander bearing square blossoms alternating with rosettes and with square and round buds. Middle border: an elaborate reciprocal trefoil in dark blue and light blue. In the lower part the light blue has faded. Outer border: unpatterned, light brown, probably undyed.
