Notes
Coloured silk embroidered onto finely woven silk. Possibly Egyptian, ca. 1100-1400. The medallion is heart shaped, with a hem (approx. 6mm wide) of plain silk sewn around the heart with a running stitich. A stylised bird, with it's head facing to the right, is in the middle of the heart. It is sewn with bright blue silk thread. Other colours are brown, cream and red.
