A fragment of woven wool. A plain weave, gauze fabric. The cloth is fragmented and in two pieces, glued to cardboard. Both the warp and weft are maroon (1 ply S, 0.2mm dia) except where there are three stripes. Here the warp is pink and each stripe (8mm wide) is separated by a 1mm stripe of maroon warps. The stripes have 22x16tpc and are warp faced, with thicker warps (1 ply S, 0.5-0.8mm dia). The cardboard has a hand written label (in ink) that says : 'Found on the mummy of a Woman buried at San (Tanis) S. mound. Mr Petrie's excavations 1884'.
