A band of woven wool, probably from the cuff of a linen tunic. Egyptian, ca. AD500-800. Woven in purple and undyed wool, with two columns of decoration. Each column is divided into rectangular compartments, of which three remain. Each compartment contains a man wearing a belt and pants. In one he has a raised arm and the others the arms are down. In one the man appears to have a halo around his head (all have curly hair). The backgrounds are filled with grapes on vines. The end of each column is a band of sold purple. There is selvedge on both sides and a starting/end border on one end.
