18th/19th century Turkish (Caucasian?) WARP: white and brown wool; Z2S; 18 threads per inch (70 per dm). WEFT: white cotton; Z2S; 4 shoots after each row of knots; 8 knots per inch (30 per dm). PILE: wool; 10 colours: red, yellow, light yellow, green, dark blue, blue, light blue, pink, black, white; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 72 knots per sq. inch (1050 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: missing but evidence along upper left hand side of returned weft with no special side finish. END FINISH: missing DESIGN: very badly worn. White ground with an angular design in 2 rows with predominantly red stems. Main border: black ground with light blue blossoms. Inner border: reciprocal red/blue triangles. Outer border: reciprocal red/light yellow triangles.
