Dress fabric of brocaded silk with silk and metal thread, Iran, 1800-1860
Malzemeler ve teknikler
Brocaded silk with silk and metal thread
Fiziksel açıklama
Dress fabric of warp-faced silk brocaded with silk and metal thread impressed with lines; piced. Extensively pieced. The seams are easily seen from the back. There seems to be hardly any distortion to the pattern. In larger pieces impressed lines can be clearly seen: four lines form a lozenge around the motifs. The motif has a bird perched on a stem with 2 buds and one blossom. The birds face to the left on the bottom row and to the right on the top row. The silk appears to be floss [untwisted]. The leaves are green, the flowers are white and 2 shades of pink. The birds are also 2 shades of pink and white. There are traces of metal thread which is silver-gilt strip open S-wound on a pink silk core.
