Fragment of a slit-tapestry woven purple wool and undyed linen panel. A central oval compartment contains a stylised enthroned figure, surrounded by stylised plant motifs. This is surrounded by an outer border of running wave-form, with stylised plant motifs in the corners of the intervening space. Some of the surrounding plain woven linen ground fabric remains. Plain weave: Linen warp (S-spun, 16/cm) Linen weft (S-spun, 5-6/0.5 cm) Tapestry weave: Linen warp (S-spun, 2/2) Wool weft (Z-spun) Linen weft (S-spun)
