Notes
Bracelets like this, made from a number of decorative chains arranged side by side to form a flat band and gathered into a solid plaque at each end concealing a pin fastening, were worn with traditional dress throughout the area of Ottoman influence. They were mainly worn by urban women, rather than tribal people. They were originally always worn in pairs, one on each wrist, and in some places were regarded as the mark of a married woman. They were worn by Christian and Jewish women, as well as Muslims. The earliest had solid metal clasps, but filigree clasps, either applied to sheet metal, like this, or of open filigree, became immensely popular with tourists in the 19th century, and are still being made in the region today.

Fiziksel açıklama
Pair of silver-gilt bracelets made from eight bands of flat woven wire with a clasp of sheet silver decorated on the front with applied filigree. The clasp has a pin fastening, with the pin made of a doubled strip of silver which is secured by a bar inside the loop, so that it cannot fall out and be lost. There is a slide, matching the clasp, in the centre of the bracelet, which prevents the bands of woven wire from separating too far.
