Fragment of plain woven undyed linen, with a tapestry woven band in purple wool. The centre of the tapestry band is formed of lamella gold thread wound on undyed linen thread. The warp of the ground weave is collected (ten to one) for the tapestry warp. There is a selvedge on the left side of the ground weave. Ground weave: Linen warp (S-spun, 64-68/cm) Linen weft (S-spun, 28-32/cm) Tapestry weave: Linen warp (S-spun) Wool weft (Z-spun) Gold-thread with linen core (Z-spun)
