Woven tapestry of silk and cotton Silk Cotton Tapestry
Fiziksel açıklama
Two woven fragments. One fragment of 5 by 4 inches has a badly damaged pattern consisting of three rows of medallions with a red centre containing a small animal motif. The pattern is tapestry woven in red and yellowish silk on a pale blue linen warp. This is sewn on one side to a fragment measuring 3 by 4 inches woven in alternate bands in tapestry and tabby. One tapestry woven band is in orange silk edged with white on cotton warp threads grouped in twos and threes; the other is in green silk edged with orange. Between them is a narrow band woven entirely in cotton, striped white on blue. The stripes in the warp continue through a tapestry woven band to form part of a broad check pattern in white, orange and blue, ending in a fringe.
