Notes This bowl represents one type of ceramics that were produced during the Ilkhanid period (1260 – 1350) in Iran. This group features decoration in black under a turquoise glaze. The design shows a variation of the so-called panel-style, which divides the surface into separate areas that are distinguished by different patterns. The Ilkhanids were a branch of the Mongol dynasty with its power based in Iran and subordinate to the Great Khan in China. Under their rule artistic production flourished once again. This is reflected in ceramics production, which produced many new types of wares and a change in style to the previous dynasty.
