Notes This painting is of the Indian ruling figure Raisal Darbari, which was part of Selim's album, which was collected during the years 1600 to 1604 by Prince Selim before he was installed as Emperor Jangir. This particular wonderful photography by Rai Sal Darbari was certainly one of the most beautiful paintings in the album. The color palette is immediately noticeable with its striking contrast of rich colors – vermilion, earthy yellow and purple – the intensity of which is tempered by the bright white of the turban the person wears and one of the sashes/waist belt (patka) hanging from his waist. Closer inspection shows sensitive treatment given to the person's face, fine wrinkles around the eyes, facial hair and the person's contours.
