This vase is made of cobalt blue blown glass, painted with multicolored enamel and decorated with gold. On the body of the vase there are horizontal lines of floral motifs, Arabic calligraphy and birds. The inscriptions surrounding the neck and body of the vase mention the attributes of an unnamed sultan, a type of praise that was commonly used on Syrian antiques from the thirteenth century onwards. The precision and details of the decoration indicate that the vase was made in one of the Egyptian or Syrian glass workshops during the Mamluk era.
