Notes
The famous grotesque heroic figure painted on glass was exhibited in Palestine in 1260. The monumental moment depicts the former slave king al-Zahir Baybars, who inflicted the first defeat on the Mongols. In the same year, Baybars, who is now the Sultan of Egypt, gradually began to eliminate the last stronghold of the Christian Crusaders in the Levant. This was not so much because of religious jealousy, but to eliminate the Franks as a source of instability. Essentially, this savior of Islam would consider himself an icon of religious warriors. In 2005, a television series (Al-Zahir Baybars) was shown in Syria, but the program avoided any religious investment in the material. Because of the religious fervor in the Arab world and beyond, the television series sends a remarkable message: Muslims and Christians, despite their mutual wars and difficult historical relations between them, are supporters of the same civilization, and both are asked to contribute together to its continued existence.
