These two earrings are made of wire, roughened and perforated and depict a pair of cast birds facing each other, perhaps partridges. This central part is surrounded by eight people and heart shapes. Earrings of this type are a development of Byzantine cross earrings from the sixth to seventh centuries with opposing birds.
