Although there are no miniatures accompanying the written texts, each chapter opens with a finely decorated title-type title. The contents of the manuscript include, among other things, interpretations of the Holy Qur’an (tafsir), tales of Sufism, poems of the qasida type (an Arabic poetic form similar to a lyric poem or an ode), in addition to philosophical treatises dealing with the Christian Gospel. Although the date of copying is precisely known (1123 AH / 1711 AD) because it appears explicitly in the manuscript’s conclusion (the colophon), the place of its copying is not mentioned in the written record.
