Ottoman manuscripts decorated in a style influenced by the European style began to appear in the first half of the eighteenth century and continued to be produced in the first years of the twentieth century. In particular, the Baroque and Rococo artistic styles of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries influenced the gilding style of the Ottoman Qur’an, such as this one. The person who gilded this manuscript - his name is Atta - proudly included his signature on it (and he had the right to do so) among the illuminations of the final page. Also very visible on this final page is the effect of pricking the gold carried out with a thin needle with a blunt tip, which was intended to achieve a deep effect, define and even give a feeling of movement to the surface of the gold and thus increase the value of the gilding as a whole.
