Notes
The designs of thin-walled bowls with an elegant biconical shape, decorated with blue and black repeating glaze, belong to the best achievements of Iranian ceramics of the twelfth - thirteenth centuries AD. The inner surface of the museum bowl is decorated with a cross-shaped pattern with diagonal inscriptions in Persian and crossed out on black strips using the “ballpoint pen” technique. The inscriptions are love poetry: “Because you cannot love me for a moment / So do not break my wounded heart any further / Be less cruel and less unjust to me / Until my heart slowly leaves you.” The professionally drawn flowers, birds with long tails, and willow branches betray the hand of the skillful artist.
