Notes
This mosque lamp is one of the oldest metal lamps of which nothing remains in the Islamic world. There are older lamps made of silver and gold, but they were melted down a long time ago. The glass bowl contains both the wick and the oil. The decoration of the lamp consists of an openwork piece and a scale-like pattern surrounding a text from the Qur’an written in a colossal script and decorated with leaves.
