Notes
This Qur’an visually underwent successive stages of rewriting and re-decoration, and there are inscriptions that give dates for some of these works. The first and most important transcription of the Qur’an is called the one-line version, which dates back to the year 690 AH / 1291 AD, which says that it was copied by Yaqut al-Mu’tasimi (died in 1298 AD), one of the most famous Muslim calligraphers. At that time, Yaqut was working for the Mongol Ilkhanid Sultan. Unfortunately, only some of the original papers remained. The restoration process was carried out at a later stage, and it is beautiful and carried out with great skill. In this Qur’an, the beginning, middle and end of the double pages are illustrated in gold. The use of bold blue and red writing on a gold ground continued for centuries, even in the late Qajar era (beginning of the fourteenth century AH / twentieth century AD). The wide margins are decorated with stencil-style flowers and leaf rolls in gold, and the beginning of each part is marked with a decorative tool. The rectangular panels at the beginning of the wall contain multi-colored lobed arches with an extension of the margin.
