Notes
This albarello is a concave-sided apothecary jar with a shape developed in Iran and Syria and made popular in Europe by Spanish-Morran majolica pottery. It is an unusually large jar and was made of two parts joined together in the center of the body. The decoration is derived from the Persian Sultanabadi style, which spread in the fourteenth century in Syria and Egypt.
