Notes
This type of bottle, common at the time, consisted of several parts. The lions' poised bodies, finely detailed legs and prominent tails are reminiscent of carved Fatimid rock crystal. Some matte ware from Syria and eastern Iraq feature monsters with the same bodies. In the end, the tree of life in the middle of the design reflects contemporary Sicilian Islamic materials.
