Notes
The piece is the spherical component of a mosque lamp decorated with rosettes, cloud scrolls and arabesques. In terms of style, it is related to an inscribed mosque lamp bearing the signature of the artist Musli al-Din and dating back to the year 1549. It is very possible that the elements are works of the same artist that were made on the occasion of the restoration of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem by Suleiman the Great.
