| Notes | The piece is a drawing of the dome of the sky with its various constellations, executed on the dome above the hot chamber in the Qusayr Amra bath. This drawing was clearly copied from a manuscript and transferred onto the spherical surface of the dome. The drawing shows some errors, indicating that it was copied by someone who is not familiar with astronomy. It should be noted that the sky dome in Qusayr Amra is the oldest image painted on a spherical surface known to date. |
